Apple Crisp
Ingredients
Chopped apples (5 cups)
3 T sugar
½ cup regular rolled oats
½ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup flour
¼ t ground nutmeg, ginger or cinnamon
¼ cup butter
¼ cup chopped nuts (optional)
Directions
Remove apple peels, chop, and mix with 3T sugar.
Place in 2 quart square baking dish
For topping, combine the oats, brown sugar, flour and nutmeg. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs
Stir in nuts if desired.
Sprinkle over fruit
Bake at 375 for 30 - 35 minutes, or until topping is golden
Variations
Topping can be doubled if you like thick ‘crust’ on your crisp
Other fruits can be substituted or mixed with the apple
Serve with ice cream while warm if possible
