Apple Crisp


Ingredients

  • Chopped apples (5 cups)

  • 3 T sugar

  • ½ cup regular rolled oats

  • ½ cup packed brown sugar

  • ¼ cup flour

  • ¼ t ground nutmeg, ginger or cinnamon

  • ¼ cup butter

  • ¼ cup chopped nuts (optional)


Directions


  • Remove apple peels, chop, and mix with 3T sugar.

  • Place in 2 quart square baking dish

  • For topping, combine the oats, brown sugar, flour and nutmeg. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs

  • Stir in nuts if desired.

  • Sprinkle over fruit

  • Bake at 375 for 30 - 35 minutes, or until topping is golden


Variations

  • Topping can be doubled if you like thick ‘crust’ on your crisp

  • Other fruits can be substituted or mixed with the apple

  • Serve with ice cream while warm if possible
